Currently {First Timer}

So...I have this paper due for my Master's class in about an hour and a half. I'm so close to being done, but I needed to take a break. I started looking through my blog list and decided to link up for the first time with Farley's Currently.

I have my iphone on shuffle while I'm writing my paper. The Lumineers happen to be on now...I'm still not tired of listening to Ho Hey which happens to be my ring tone too.

I am so so so extremely excited that it is SPRING BREAK!!!

I'm leaving for Chicago for a few days with my mom for a mini vacation. I should pack...but I think I'll wait till the a.m. Cheesecake Factory here I come!

I am so ready for spring weather. I want the sun to be shinning and to wear flip flops so my cute painted toesies will show.

I need to stop procrastinating and finish my paper. This is so much more fun though.
Be yourself! nuff' said.
Get in on the fun and link up with Farley too...

Five for Friday!

Here we go again...I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching. This little linky has become a favorite of mine!

1. I just bought something totally AH-MAZING from Tpt and I have to show you!!!
This is going to be great for some review before we take the MAP Test in almost a month. I bought one for me and then 2 additional licenses for my first grade teammates. I'm pumped to start this up after spring break. Thanks Abby!
2. Books, books, and more books!

The Scholastic Book Fair was in full swing this week at my school. We have a wonderful PTO that gives each teacher some money to spend. Look what we have to add to our library!

3. We've been learning about capacity this week in math. Today we made Gallon Men/Robots/girls/cats. I let my kiddos make any head they wanted. Boy did they get creative! These are going up out in the hallway on display for conferences.

4. Meet the mystery worker...

My kiddos are getting super antsy and we are reviewing expectations/rules ALOT. SpRiNg FeVeR! So, to help motivate them to stay on track I pick a mystery worker or two during different times of the day. If they are following expectations and working then I announce the mystery worker. They get a ticket and once or twice a week I pick a few out to get something from the treasure box {stickers, pencils, fruit snacks...} If the mystery worker isn't doing their job, then I don't announce who it was. I just tell the class, "Oh no the mystery worker wasn't doing their job so I can't give out a ticket."

5. Have you seen my latest freebie? If not...click on the pic and download!

Happy Friday!
I have conferences this week and then Spring Break officially starts Thursday night after my last conference! Yippie!

FiVe FoR fRiDaY {#2}

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs this week to share with you five happenings from my week.

1.
Today was dress as your favorite book character day. So fun! Can you guess who I was? I was standing at my door this morning greeting students with my elephant ears and sign necklace. One little kiddo said, "I like your rat costume!" Another one exclaimed, "Oooo...you're Mickey Mouse!"Not quite...  :)

2. A little Pinterest inspired fun...
I saw these cute little baggies last year after St. Patty's day. This year I knew that I had to make them. I came across some on a blog, but my color ink was out. So, I made my own last night and busted out the crayons to add a pop of color. My kiddos loved their morning treat while they worked this morning.

3. I had another power cord mishap...

I went to charge my iphone last night and it wouldn't charge. {sad face} I was at 30% power and I use it as my alarm. It did wake me up in the morning and I charged it up some using my car charger on the way to school this morning. It's crazy that I rely so much on my phone! Anyways, the cord got all gnarled up and pinched so I went to Best Buy and promptly bought a new one after school. 20 some bucks later my phone is all ready to rock and roll!

4.

My friends got the official call yesterday telling them when they can head down to Bogota, Colombia to adopt their 3 kids. So exciting! The orphanage that they are adopting them from is one that I have visited twice on a mission trip. I'm heading back this summer too. We teach a vacation Bible school like camp there for a week. I've actually met these 3 sweet kids on the past two trips. I'm so happy that they are coming home to their forever family.
5.

I posted a new pack to Tpt that is very similar to my Blend Bling. This little pack is Short Vowel Bling. Have your kiddos trace the sound, color the coordinating pic, and then color the sounds in the words going around the bling. Hole punch at the top and tie some yarn through.

Now it's your turn, so go link up!

Chicken & Waffles or Sriracha?

My mom is a third grade teacher. This is an activity she did with her students this past week and I wanted to share...

Have you seen the commercial or these chips at the grocery store? America gets to vote for the best flavor and my mom thought it would be fun for her third graders to vote. There's another flavor too, but they didn't have it at the store.

They made predictions as a class...

Then they got to taste test each chip.

Here are the results...

The winner is Sriracha!

Want to try out this activity with your kiddos?
Here's a little recording sheet I made up for them to fill out when working on this activity.

My vote goes to Chicken and Waffles. I'm not one for spicy food!

Blend Bling & Groupon for Educators?

Looking for a way to teach your readers about beginning and ending blends? Check out the bling friends. Blend Bling that is...

On each necklace there is a blend to trace, blend picture and words going around the edge that have that particular blend. I've also included blend cards to help students learn the sound the blend makes before they create their blend bling. All you need are scissors, yarn/string, and coloring tools (crayons, colored pencils, highlighters...etc.) to create each bling.

Who loves Groupon? I have to admit I have the app, but have yet to purchase anything off of there. Anyways, thanks to Jennifer over at First Grade Blue Skies I've found out about educents.

Educents will offer educational products at 30-90% off. If you sign up now you will get a free $15 gift card for when they launch on April 2nd. I can't wait to see what goodies they will have!

Five For Friday {First Timer}

This week is the first 5 day week I have had in for-evah. I'm ready for spring and no more snow days. I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for my very first Five For Friday!

1. Today was the Vocabulary Day Parade. We decided to dress up as party, celebration and festivity.

So fun! We tied the balloons to the pack loop of our jeans. I ended up getting stuck on the clothesline in my classroom and took out some art projects that were hanging up. My firsties and I got a laugh out of that one.

2. I started a Facebook page for my blog. I've been wanting to do this for a while and finally got it done.

3. My macbook power cord bit the dust! So sad and expensive to replace. When I plugged it in, it wasn't charging. Then, I looked at the cord and blue sparks were coming out! Yikes! I bought a new one for 70 some bucks. No pic...I recycled the fire hazard at Best Buy.

4. I finished and uploaded a new pack on TpT called Handwriting {Short Vowel Edition}. A great way to combine handwriting and reading short vowel words.

Click on one of the pics to check it out!

5. I'm half way done with one of my master classes. Only 4 weeks left, then I start another one. This is what I'm reading...lots of great ideas.

Happy weekend!

St. Patty's Day, Milestone, & "Like!"

I can't believe that it's March already! I am so ready for spring, pedis, and flip flops. I want to share with you a St. Patty's day freebie that I have available on TpT. It's something I made last year, but you may have not of snagged it yet so....here it is...

Here's another one too which is great for fact family practice...

A little gold coin hunt activity. You just need to pick up some plastic gold coins like these...

I believe I got them in the party section at Hobby Lobby last year. I numbered each coin on one side. Then on the other side, I wrote addition and subtraction problems. I put a label stick on each side so that I could easily write on it! You could also just cut out yellow circles from construction paper too.   :)

If you download any of these activities, I would love some feedback!

Here's my latest milestone....

I've reached 200 followers on TpT!

I have a favor to ask of you...would you please swing by my new facebook page? If you love it will you  "like it"? by clicking on the little "like it" button?

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
