I don't even know where to begin. I feel like I should just take everything out and go through it ALL. I love that the teacher before me left this stuff....just maybe not in this disarray. LOVE the huge storage closet though! Anyone out there in bloggy world wanna do it for me? :)

New Room & Desk Mats {give away}

Today I got to visit my brand new classroom! It was just cleaned up and painted so all of the furniture was in the hallway. Hopefully I will be able to move in by the end of the week!

Dots on Turquoise + Owls!

I finally settled on the color scheme/theme for my classroom this year. For the past three years, I've done a monkey/jungle theme. It was cute and I love it! Now that I have a new job, in a new building, in a new classroom, I decided to go with something completely different....Dots on Turquoise + owls! Here's how I finally mind up my mind:

Yesterday, there was a teacher preview day at the local teacher store. There were reps there from a lot of different companies showcasing their new products. When I came to the Trend table, I was in love with the owls and then I went to the Creative Teaching Press table, I was in love with the Dots on Turquoise products. I didn't know what to do because I LOVED them both, but both of them did not go together. Anywho...I ended up purchasing oodles of the  Dots on Turquoise products...

Then, when I went home I started thinking about those owls again and how they didn't match my cute stuff. So....I went to Hobby Lobby and {my lovely mom} bought me scrapbook paper that would match to make my own owls. I came across this pattern on TpT that I used....

Here's my work in progress....

I just need to add the black part to the eyes. I used the little dots on turquoise cut outs for the beak...what do you think? I'm going to cut out a cute little tag from cream paper too for their name too. I will have red, orange, and green owls too. 

Oh I also scored these amazing freebies yesterday during Teacher Preview Day....

I also met Melanie from Schoolgirl Style at Teacher Preview Day. She was at the Creative Teaching Press table. :)

Winner, Walmart Finds and {ExCiTiNg NeWs}

First....I would like to announce the winner of my School Supplies Clip Art {Mega Pack}....

Next...I want to share with you a pic of some amazing finds from Walmart

I got Pin the Worm on the Apple, the Bingo game, bookmarks, the cute yellow baskets, and speech bubbles for 88 cents each! {what a deal!} The markers were only 50 cents a pack and then I couldn't resist the sign holder. I just need to get crafty later with some scrapbook paper...not quite sure what it will be for...but I had to have it! {If you have a suggestion, let me know!}

Now for the ExCiTiNg NeWs....

I have a new job! I'll still be teaching 1st grade, but at a different school in the area with more pay/benefits/newer building. I'll also be teaching with some awesome friends of mine. I just found out yesterday and I cannot wait to see my new classroom! Now I just need to pack up my old room {ugh}, which won't be fun in this hot weather! I will definitely miss my old school though, the kids, the great staff, but I am totally excited about this new adventure.

Fav Picture Books Linky Party

I {LOVE} books, so I got super excited when I saw Lindsey at The Teacher Wife hosting this....

Here are 5 of my favorite picture books that I absolutely look forward to sharing with my students. {It was hard to narrow it down!}

Ok....so, I  love all books by Mo Willems.

This is a great book for teaching younger kids about bullying. 

I love this book because it is absolutely HILARIOUS!

This book is great when learning about the civil rights movement. The song "This Little Light of Mine" is interwoven throughout and the illustrations are gorgeous. 

I {love} David Shannon books and the dog Fergus reminds me of my old dog Thumper. 

There's my five recommendations! I'm off to look at the other blogs that linked up and I just know that I will have to start a list of new books to buy.
